July 29th 2015 - Library
Whilst going through lil mans book bag I found a letter about "the record breakers reading challenge" at the local library. For this he has to read 6 books over the summer and he gets stickers and things as he goes along. We got the bus to town and walked round to the library. We spoke to the lady at the desk and got him his own library card. We asked the lady about the reading challenge and she sent us to another desk to sort it.
The lady went through the paperwork and told us what he needs to do for it. We took the paperwork and went over to the children's book area and started to look for books. Lil man wasn't sure what he wanted so we headed to the learning to read section where we found a nice big pile that were suitable, we sat on 1 of the seats and went through them to see which ones he wanted to bring home.
He choose 3 learning to read and a bigger children's book from 1 of the boxes. He has the books for 3 weeks but has already read 2 of the 4 he brought home. The reading of 6 books isn't going to be a problem for him to do. We have said that we will take a picture of him with all the books he reads and print them out so he can show his teacher when he goes back to school in september.

March 4th 2015 - Family Learning course
March 4th 2015 - Family Learning course
Today is Wednesday which means I am back school for the family learning course. Today the children didn't come and join us as OFSTED are in the school and its not fair to disrupte the classes more than they already are.
Once we were all there in the library and everyone had their coffee and biscuits, Ruth explained to us that the children wouldn't be joining us and why. She then told us that we were all going to do some creative writing and write our own story. She gave us some pictures of doors as the promt for where our story would go and the starting line of the story. I chose this door (very strange that I found the exact one on pinterest! Fate is what I call it). And I proceeded to write my story. (see below for my full story.)
After we did these we talked about nouns, pronouns, verbs and adverbs and played a few simple games linked to them. One of the games was a version of consequences where we each wrote one word, folded the paper and passed to the next person to add the next bit. Most of them didn't make much sense. We then had to used the categories to make a 4 word sentence but had to use alliteration where each word started with the same letter. I wrote 2 they were "many monkeys marched madly" and "small shapes sang slowly."
We then did a worksheet linked to the above, on it was a few short sentences that we had to make more interesting by adding nouns, verbs etc. One of the original sentences was "The fox had a tail", edited I made mine "The fierce red fox had a long fluffy tail".
OFSTED came into where we working and asked if they could join us for a few minutes, alot of the parents on course suddenly had "the don't come near me" or "you cant see me" image and stance. I personally had nothing to hide to so answered the questions one of them asked me and showed my folder of work that we have done over the weeks to the other to look at. Whilst they looking at my work they are not making notes on what we're doing nor are they asking questions!
It was a shame that the children were not able to join us today but we did get alot of work done. The work the children were meant to do has been sent home with us for them to complete if they want to - mine WILL be doing it as they wanted me to go on this course to help THEM.
Next week we have a lady fro Dove Cottage (William Wordsworths house) coming to talk to us and apparently this does involve us dressing up etc, so should be fun.
My Story written in 20minutes today:
(First line given to us) I stood silently, looking at the door. With a slow creaking sound it opened. Taking a deep breath I walked inside..... Having slowly climbed the eight stone steps I had no idea what I was about to face. I fully opened my eyes to see where I was and where this door had taken me. To my supprise it was a magical land in all shades of purple.
The flowers wer all purple and of every variety you can think of, the leaves on the trees seemed to change from purple to silver as they caught in the sunlight. It was beautiful and a sight you would never forget.
There was a path off to the right which I followed, and after walking for a few minutes a sign appeared infront of me and it read "This place is whatever you wish it to be, it wont be the same for anyone." And with that it vanished. I kept walking and could see a sparkling pool of water, this intrigued me so I went towards it. I thought it would get bigger the neared I got but it stayed the same size. I looked into it but couldn't see anything, this wasn't normal water! I leaned abit further to see more closely and as I did I was pulled into it, but I wasn't wet as I expected.
All around me was swirls of purple and as I started to spin panic took over. I wanted to get out of here and back to the flowers. Before I knew it I was stood back beside the now closed door and the sea of purple flowers was infront of me. This sure was a strange place, i'm not sure if its real or just my imagination.

January 26th 2015 - Book 2 finished
January 25th 2015 - Book 2 finished
Today I haven't done much, I didn't get up until 09:45am and I was in bed at 8:30pm last night after the very early wake up in order to go on the course. Which we made it to without falling asleep on the train and was very informative.
So today I have sat and typed up the notes I made on the course which actually took ages and then I tried to print for my printer to do 2 pages of 6 (plus I need 3 copies in total) and then said it was out of ink and chucked out blank pages. I think tomorrow I am going to try and re-set the ink and see if I can get them printed out. Then I sat and read the last part of my book. This is 1 of the categories in the 2015 reading challenge. It is called I heart New York. And fits under the section of set in another country.
Was your typical romance book really, which I don't mind reading now and then, I used to read them all the time.

January 14th 2015 - Finished 1 book from reading list
January 14th 2015 - Finished 1 book from reading list
Today I have finished 1 book from the 2015 reading challenge. The book was the subcategory of "Magic", it is called Dark Winter, the wicca circle by John Hennessey, and the pin is located here on my 365 board.
Strange but good is how I would describe it, there were a few spelling mistakes but this dodn't alter the story, there was alos abit of confusing as it did flit about and repeat a few bits like character descriptions and because of this I gave a 3* rating of it in my review over on goodreads.
Also today my new laptop tray arrived (YAY!) but sadly it doesn't fit across my sofa and 1 leg falls down the gap between cushions and 1 leg doesnt even balance on sofa! so not good. But it's not wasted as it fits on hubby's sofa - he only has a 2 seater so the cushions are bit wider. This does mean that I am still on the look out for a new laptop tray!

Sooooooooooo much pain again!
Last night my knee gave (again) and I ended up in a heap on the floor! This is the 1st time it has done this in about 4months, and it has re-aggrevated my knee injury from january 2013. So after ringing my GP and not being able to get in until friday the nurse advised me if I was in pain to go to A&E.
Off to A&E I went to have my knee prodded n pulled about and me end up in even more pain! (why do docs always say sorry when they are making you cry out in pain??? LOL!) Well the doc advised strapping it up and resting it and using my crutches if I need to walk about. He doesn't think there is any new damage but the old injury again.
So its now a waiting game to see what my gp is going to do and wait for the appointment to the orthopeadic docs, meanwhile taking pain killers like they are going out of fashion! NOT that they are helping much. :(
But as I cant do much means I have time to look for more competitions to enter and I can sit and read my books :)

New books
When I moved house a few months ago nearly all my books ended up going to the charity shop by accident. This was very upsetting when I reaslised, as some of the books I had had many years and as they had come free with magazines I doubt I will be able to replace them.
So I have set about purchasing new books when I find them cheaply. I have picked up some in charity shops and others in sales.
Today I have received 2 more parcels in the post of new books. Slowly my book shelf is starting to look a bit fuller.
As per the picture you can see there are some Katie Price books, I picked up a couple in a charity shop before Christmas and I wasn't sure I would enjoy them, but thought I would give them a try anyway. Well I enjoyed them and that's why I have bought some more.
Once I have read them I plan on writing reviews of them, whether on here or on Goodreads or both i've not yet decided.
