On wednesday of this coming week it is the sja christmas party. The party is going to be uv/glow in the dark. It should be a really good night. I think the kids are going to be quite shocked when the uv/ lights get turned on.
I have spent to day painting a glow in the dark snowman that we can use as a "Pin the nose" game. It was painted with glow in dark and white paint.

September 9th 2015 - rock house
September 9th 2015 - rock house
A few weeks back my lil man found 2 leprechauns in a charity shop. They were salt & pepper pots but he asked if he could have them for his fairy garden. I bought them and put glue in the holes, touched up the bit that was chipped with nail varnish and off he went with them to the garden.
I didn't think much more about them but last week he said to me that his leprechauns needed a house as the fairies and gnomes all have houses. I asked him what sort he wanted and he said made from rock like some of those outside but must be green and have a rainbow on it as leprechauns are found near rainbows.
I have an assortment of rocks in the garden that we have found as we cleared it etc so I foun 1 that was sort of rock house shaped and set about drawing bits on it - windows and doors and flowers, a roof and a rainbow on the back. I then set about painting it. It looks really good and lil man is pleased with it. He asked me to put silver sparkle nail varnish over the rainbow so it looks magical. So out came the nail varnish again (1 day I will do a post on my many uses of nail varnish lol), and I i it. All I need to do is varnish it.
I will add a photo during day light so it looks better.

July 31st 2015 - Painting gnomes
July 31st 2015 - Painting gnomes
I saw on facebook today that 1 of the churches a few miles from us had a free craft session for children, it was painting a gnome. I asked lil man if he would like to go to it. He said yes as 1. he likes crafts and painting and 2. he can put it in the garden with the fairies.
We got the bus there and were abit early so we went round the chairty shops first. In 1 of them we found a leprechaun salt & pepper shaker set, he thought they looked like gnomes and was upset when I said were leprechauns, but was quite happy when I said he could have them and I would make them a rainbow rock house that they could sit infront of.
We went off to the church and he made hisgnome, which he has called Gordon. He joined in the mini treasure hunt round the church and got sweets and then joined in with making music and using differrent instruments. (charity shops aside) it only cost me bus fare for an afternoon of fun for lil man.
They asked if we would be going over next tuesday for the viking afternoon, lil man wants to go, i'm not sure about the older 2 though.

March 26th 2015 - Re-painting the hallway & stairs
March 26th 2015 - Re-painting the hallway & stairs
Thanks to my lovely kids and their dirty hands up and down the stair walls I need to re-paint them, as where I tried to clean the walls with wet wipes it has removed the paint as well! GGggggrrrrr!!!!
So we have bought kitchen and bathroom paint that can be washed/is waterproof, so that I *should* be able to remove dirty marks off it. We have gone for almost the same colour - Water, similar to the pale in the middle. Once its dry I will take a pic of the painted wall still got all the top to do but as my knee isn't too good today i'm not over doing it. I will try and get it painted over the Easter holidays.

Pic shows the old and new colours, although makes the carpet look grey it is actually a deep green with the pale duck egg type colour spots. They go really well together. As I posted above, I need to do the top of the walls and the rest of the stair walls.

March 16th 2015 - Vegetable markers
March 16th 2015 - Vegetable markers
With lil man trying to grow his own vegetables he needs to have markers of some sort so we can tell what he has growing (hopefully) where.
I didn't think that the plastic ones you write on would be very good with high winds and cats, so I looed on pinterest for ideas and found these vegetable markers made from stones with the image draw/painted on them and then varnished - much more sturdy. So I set about making him some, so far we have carrots, potatoes and sweetcorn markers made (see below) and I need to make garlic, raspberries and blueberries. These are not all in his big planter but in smaller pots as well.

February 28th 2015 - Painting the spell book
February 28th 2015 - Painting the spell book
Today I am going to give the spell book its 1st coat of paint. As I don't have enough purple acrylic I am going to do the first coat in a pale pink (mixed with silver) to make sure I have enough, this paint also has a sparkle to it.
I found a pin on pinterest about using acrylic paint to paint book covers with. I planned to use this paint anyway as its stronger than kids poster paints. I am also thinking about varnish or pva glue to protect it.
Here is the book after its pink coat of paint:
I think its starting to come along quite nicely.

February 8th 2015 - Word Art
February 8th 2015 - Word Art
Today is a very dull and gloomy day outside, its really foggy and I can't even see the houses across the road! This doesn't help me with feeling low and depressed.
So I decided to find some word art to colour in via the paint programme on my laptop. I chose this image on pinterest for todays pin. It says:

January 5th 2015 - dice
January 5th 2015 - dice
Today peace and quite has resumed in the house as 2/3 kids are back at school and the other 1 is on his computer. I have painted the last part of the wall in the boys bedroom (eldest son helped by doing the top and painting the ceiling blue as he went grrrr! never mind!) and I have done todays pin.
I have made a sealed pot dice for in the car. The original idea came from here and was so dice didnt fly across the room. But my boys have asked if they can have the snowman game from the other day in the car, so that will be being laminated and put in a folder with other similar bits.
