August 27th 2015 - Places to go and people to see
Today has been a busy day. The title should be people and places but it didn't sound right! We are staying at one of our friends houses. We had told her that we had few things to do etc and would be back just after lunch. However, plans changed and she didn't get my message.
We started off by going to see my mum's best friend and the godmother to all 3 boys as planned. Blake decided that he liked her pot of stones in the garden - not just stones but crystal types, clear fish etc, asked where they were from, his godmother didn't know and told him to take them. So he filled a bag and said they would look nice in his fairy garden.
From here we went for Dinner with my Nan at a local pub. The food was nice and the service was mostly good, but it took over 20minutes to pay for it because the people in front of us were argueing over the cost of their bill and there were 3 members of staff trying to sort it out. This is where our plans changed as we were meant to be heading back, but my sister rang me and asked if we would go and meet her.
We went to meet my sister as not seen her since january and she asked if we wanted to go to Fineshade Woods in Northamptonshire, sounds far but it's only about 20minutes drive from Peterborough. It wasn't anywhere we had heard of, which is a shame as it was really nice and certainly somewhere we would have gone when we lived that way.
We took out my Wheels so that I didn't have to walk and my sister said that I had a "granny mobile" - I don't care! lol! We went round the woods to a tree house where the boys played for a while, lil man got stuck and had to be rescued from the top of it. we then headed back to the smaller play area for a little while.
My friend we are staying with rang to check we were ok as she had expected us back a few hours before and she said she hadn't got my message. She was glad we were ok but she was going out but told us how to get in house etc. We were on our way to car when she rang anyway but we needed to go supermarket for party food for tomorrow so said would be an hour or so. It took us ages to pay in Morrisons as they had very few tills open and long ques!

January 27th 2015 - FIMO
January 27th 2015 - FIMO
Today has been one of those mad days. We usually go shopping on a tuesday morning, today being no exception. Except for the fact I needed to do some bits in town as well. So rather than leaving food in the car and then doing town we did town first. Makes sense right??? Well you would think so but it seems the world and his wife were in town and the supermarkets all at the same time.
We usually get to the supermarkets just after 9am once we have dropped the kids off at school and the shops are very quiet and we get really quickly. But today with going into town first which was really busy we didn't get to the supermarkets until nearly 12. And it was heaving, you couldn't move down half the ailses and people were pushing and shoving! I'm NOT doing groceries this late again!
Well after finally getting the shopping and lunch and getting home there wasn't much time left before getting my boys from school so I hav done a very easy pin for today - the instructions for how to use FIMO Modelling Clay. I have bought a white sparkly pack of it that I am going to turn into 2 unicorn horns to go in jars to be added to my witches potion shelf for halloween.
I have even found instructions on how to make them from air drying clay, so it wont be much different for the oven baked clay which FIMO is.
I remember when I was little me and Mum had loads of FIMO and I was always making things, beads and animals and things for in my dolls house. I didn't know it was stilll made until I was looking for clay to make the horns from. Then to the madness of it I asked my friend if she had used it and could tell me how long to bake it for as it came with no instructions...... see bottom left of picture! DUH. LOL! I didn't even see it on there until she asked me for a picture of what "Type" I had bought, as they vary slightly. Never mind.
I also bought a book in the charity shop for 99p to start making my old spell book from. I did look in the old/secondhand bookshop in town and he had some LOVELY really old leath bound books which would have been ideal, the only downside was the price of the £6.50 for an A5 and upto £50 an almost A3 size. They would have been great but I can't justify the cost of it for use of a few hours 1 night a year. Watch this space for the advancement of the spell book.

Whitehaven Parade
Today May 6th was a lovely day all round. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and it was the day of the Whitehaven Freedom Parade through the town.
Me and hubby decided to go down and watch. Now this sounds like a good plan, except for the fact its only 2weeks since I had my knee operation, i'm still hobbling about, I didn't take my crutches or the folding chair (this wasn't thought about until the last part of the air display!) Plus we parked at the multi story and had to park on level 5 and then walk down. So by the time we had left the car park I was already knackered and in pain. Oh well, we're here now!
We took a slow walk to the harbour front. As we were walking down the harbour front we got asked by a steward if we were part of the parade - errr no we're here to watch it and we're heading down to the navy boat. We were allowed to pass. He did inform us that the parade was going that way and coming back the way we were walking.
As we approached the quay down to where the navy boat was they had a sign up showing its name -
and on the metal gate was a sign that said open 10:30am-4pm, we said that it would be worth getting the boys from school and heading straight down so they could look round the boat. We walked down the quay to the boat (which was at the far end!!!) As we got nearer I could see a rope ladder at the side of it - the only way on board - great! I decided not to go on board as I didn't want to risk hurting my knee any more than the walking was going to do. Hubby went on and had a look around. I took a few photos of the outside of the boat and then wandered back to the harbourside where I could sit down.
After a short sit down on a bench I could hear the band playing and someone said that the parade where on their way back to the harbourside. I stayed seated until I saw the band come into the band stand and then I stood up. I had a lovely view from where I was, that was until the police and stewards decided they were going to stand there. However I did manage to get some nice photos of the parade.
After the parade had all been inspected and everything else done they marched past the end of where I was standing (couldn't sit now if I had wanted to as the area behind me was full of people). The cheering and waving of flags and clapping was really nice.
It was then time for the arial displays to start. They were really good, and I managed to get some photos that are very clear even though I only had the small cameras with me, yes cameras I had 2!
Following this great display it was the turn of the red devils parachute display team, from air to sea. The plane had to do a few laps before it was cleared to go.
Apparently the sea was very cold, 1 of them said as they walked past - I will believe him as I have no desire to find out until the weather warms up much more!
Finally there was another plane doing lots of tricks and leaving smoke trails.
I was glad I had gone down there for the event but I certainly knew that I had stood for nearly 2hrs. I was in alot of pain. By the time we got home my knee had swollen up and I have taken lots of pain killers and elevated my knee and had ice on it. I got some really nice photos and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was brilliant and there was a great turn out for a small town.
